Failed Terrorist Attack: Troops Recover Motorcycle, Blood-Stained Trou

Troops of the Nigerian Army have recovered a motorcycle, blood-stained clothing and other items believed to have been abandoned by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists following a failed attack on a military position in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.

The recovery was made by personnel of the 101 Special Forces Battalion during a follow-up exploitation operation conducted around the Alagarno axis, approximately four kilometres northeast of Kukawa.

The items were listed in Operation Hadin Kai/MNJTF Special Situation Report No. 95, dated September 2, 2026.

Among the materials recovered were a motorcycle, three blankets, a jack knife, an extra-large prayer mat, tea cups and other tea-making items, a rope, a head warmer and a pair of trousers bearing blood stains.

The discovery came after terrorists attempted to attack the 101 Special Forces Battalion but were forced to retreat following the troops’ response.

Following the failed assault, soldiers expanded their search into surrounding areas, leading to the recovery of the abandoned items believed to be linked to the attackers.

Although the security situation in the area was described as generally calm, the report noted that it remained unpredictable, underscoring the need for continued vigilance and sustained military operations.

The report also stated that the troops maintained satisfactory morale and fighting efficiency as operations continued in the volatile area.

The latest recovery highlights the military’s ongoing strategy of exploiting the aftermath of terrorist attacks to trace fleeing elements, recover abandoned materials and gather useful leads for subsequent security operations.

Kukawa and other communities in the Lake Chad region have remained key areas of security operations as Nigerian forces intensify efforts to disrupt the activities and logistics of Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters.
