EFCC, KATSINA EMIR JOIN FORCES AGAINST CORRUPTION

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has strengthened its anti-corruption drive in the North-West, securing the backing of the Katsina traditional institution.

The Acting Zonal Director of the Katsina Directorate, Chinedu Ozugha, led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Emir of Katsina, Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, where both sides pledged to work hand-in-hand to tackle economic and financial crimes.

Ozugha disclosed that the newly established EFCC Directorate in Katsina will oversee operations in both Katsina and Zamfara States, stressing that the fight against corruption requires the active support of traditional leaders.

He urged the Emir to leverage his influence to mobilize public cooperation, noting that the battle cannot be won by the Commission alone.

In his response, the Emir welcomed the EFCC’s presence in the state and assured the Commission of the traditional council’s full support to ensure the success of its mandate.

The development signals a growing alliance between anti-graft agencies and traditional institutions in the push to curb corruption at the grassroots.
