Prominent Nigerians and patriots converged at the Continental Hotel, Abuja, this morning for a thought-provoking lecture titled “Weaponization of Poverty as a Means of Underdevelopment: A Case Study of Nigeria.”
The event, held in honour of former Governor Rotimi Amaechi, examined how poverty has been used as a political and economic tool to hinder national growth and citizen empowerment.
Among the attendees was AA, who described the gathering as “a great and thought-provoking event,” commending the intellectual depth of the discussions and the patriotic spirit that defined the occasion.
Speakers at the lecture called for urgent policy reforms to break cycles of dependency and inequality, urging Nigerian leaders to prioritize economic justice, education, and inclusive governance as pillars of national progress.
The event blended reflection with celebration — a tribute to Amaechi’s legacy of service and his continued relevance in Nigeria’s political and intellectual landscape.
