ADC Crisis Deepens: Binani Camp Dumps Party, Declares Congresses ‘Illegal’

A major political storm has erupted in Adamawa State as key stakeholders of the African Democratic Congress aligned with Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed Binani announced a mass resignation, citing a total collapse of internal democracy within the party.

In a strongly worded communiqué issued after a high-level meeting in Yola, the group accused the party’s state and national leadership of undermining the rule of law and imposing flawed congress outcomes on members.

The stakeholders alleged that the congresses conducted under the leadership of Ishaya Bauka were manipulated, exclusionary, and carried out in defiance of valid court orders—actions they say have stripped the party of credibility in Adamawa.

“We can no longer be part of a system that thrives on injustice and impunity,” the communiqué declared, passing a vote of no confidence on the ADC leadership.

The group announced an “immediate and irreversible” resignation en masse, while rejecting all outcomes of the recently conducted congresses as null and void.

In a decisive political move, the stakeholders mandated Senator Binani to lead consultations toward a new political platform ahead of the 2027 general elections, particularly the governorship race in the state.

They also unveiled plans for a coordinated defection structure across polling units, wards, and local government areas, alongside aggressive grassroots mobilization to rebuild political strength under a new banner.

Political observers say the development could significantly reshape the power dynamics in Adamawa, as the ADC grapples with internal divisions and the loss of influential figures.

With tensions rising and realignments underway, the unfolding crisis signals a major shift in the state’s political landscape as preparations for 2027 gather momentum.
