Troops Smash Terrorist Hideout, Recover Pistol, Radio in Anambra

Troops of Operation UDO KA have dismantled a suspected terrorist hideout in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State, recovering a pistol, ammunition and a handheld radio during the operation.

The troops, drawn from the 185 Battalion, stormed the suspected camp in the Eketutu general area at about 6:30 a.m. on August 18 while conducting a fighting patrol.

Sources said the soldiers met no resistance as they moved into the area and took control of the suspected hideout.

During a search of the camp, the troops recovered one pistol, a round of 9mm ammunition and a handheld radio, believed to have been used by the criminal elements operating from the location.

Following the discovery, the troops destroyed the camp in situ to prevent it from being reused as a sanctuary or operational base by terrorists and other criminal groups.

The latest operation underscores the continued efforts of Operation UDO KA to flush out armed groups, destroy their hideouts and restrict their freedom of movement across the South-East.

Security forces have continued to intensify patrols and offensive operations in the region as part of efforts to dismantle criminal networks and restore lasting peace and security to affected communities.
