KADUNA — Troops of Sector 7, Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP), have recovered a herd of cattle following a report of farm destruction in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The incident occurred at about 2:40 p.m. on Aug. 19 when troops responded to reports of cattle allegedly destroying farmlands in Mabushi and Madamai villages.

On arrival at the affected locations, the troops found that the herders had fled with their cattle.

The troops subsequently pursued the fleeing herders and intercepted a herd of cattle that had been abandoned along the route.

Preliminary checks revealed that the recovered livestock belonged to the Ardo of Jan Kasa in Kaura Local Government Area.

The security forces subsequently invited both parties for an amicable settlement aimed at resolving the dispute and preventing further escalation.

The development highlights the continued efforts by troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE to respond swiftly to farmer-herder disputes and maintain peaceful coexistence among communities in Kaduna State.

Security sources said the military would continue to support dialogue and peaceful resolution of local disputes while responding to security threats within its area of responsibility.
