Nigeria’s electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has struck a decisive blow in the deepening crisis within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), removing the party’s National Chairman, David Mark, and members of its National Working Committee from its official portal.
The move follows a directive from the Court of Appeal ordering all parties to maintain the status quo in a leadership tussle initiated by factional chairman, Nafiu Bala Gombe.
In a firm stance, INEC declared it will no longer recognise or engage with either faction of the party pending the final determination of the case at the Federal High Court.
The commission further announced it would not monitor any meetings, congresses, or conventions organised by the rival groups—effectively freezing party activities at the national level.
