The former Vice Chairman of Malumfashi Local Government in Katsina State, Alhaji Nasir Abdullahi Dayi, has regained his freedom after spending 103 days in the custody of notorious bandits.

He was released on Tuesday, 25th November 2025, bringing an end to more than three months of captivity that left his family, political associates and the Malumfashi community deeply worried.

Upon his return, Alhaji Nasir Abdullahi Dayi was received by relatives, political colleagues, friends, schoolmates and well-wishers who had been praying and advocating for his safe release. Witnesses said he appeared physically weak and exhausted after the long ordeal and was immediately taken to a hospital for medical attention due to the severe conditions he suffered while in captivity.

His abduction had drawn significant concern across Katsina State, with community leaders repeatedly calling for improved security and urgent measures to curb the activities of bandits who continue to terrorise rural communities.

More updates are expected from the family and local authorities regarding his health and ongoing security measures in the area.
