Governor Radda Visits Belarus In Search Of Security Support

By Fatima Mukhtar

The Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has embarked on an official visit to the Republic of Belarus to seek collaboration and technical support in strengthening the state’s security architecture.

Governor Radda, who was accompanied by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Nasiru Mu’azu Danmusa, is expected to hold high-level meetings with Belarusian government officials and security experts to explore partnerships in intelligence sharing, training, and acquisition of modern security equipment.

According to a statement by the Danlimman Media Team, Funtua, the visit is part of the governor’s continued efforts to end banditry and other forms of criminality affecting rural communities in Katsina State.

The statement noted that Belarus, a country with advanced military technology and strong expertise in internal security management, has expressed willingness to support Nigeria, particularly states battling insecurity, through technical cooperation and capacity building.

Governor Radda’s administration has in recent months intensified its fight against insecurity, launching community watch groups and increasing collaboration with security agencies.

The visit to Belarus is seen as another bold step in his administration’s commitment to securing lives and property and creating an enabling environment for peace and economic growth across Katsina State.

Since assuming office, Governor Dikko Radda has made security a top priority of his administration. In 2023, he established the Katsina Community Watch Corps, a homegrown security outfit designed to support conventional security agencies in combating banditry.

His government also launched Operation Mukur-Mukur and other coordinated operations aimed at flushing out criminal elements from the state’s forests and border areas.
