Army Launches Major Offensive Against Terrorists in Katsina

By Fatima Mukhtar

The Nigerian Army has announced the commencement of a new large-scale military operation in Katsina State, aimed at flushing out terrorists and restoring peace in the region.

The operation, tagged Operation Mugun Bugu, is a joint task involving all divisions of the Nigerian Army. It will focus on coordinated attacks and clearance missions in forests and mountainous areas notorious for harboring criminal elements.

According to Major General Abubakar Haruna, the Commandant of the Nigerian Army’s Combat Training Wing, the operation is designed to dismantle terrorist hideouts and cut off their supply lines. He made this known during a strategy meeting held in Faskari Local Government Area, where he emphasized the army’s readiness to reclaim every inch of territory from criminal gangs.

“Our mission is clear — to restore peace and ensure the safety of lives and property in Katsina and neighboring states,” General Haruna said, assuring residents of the army’s commitment to protecting civilians during the operation.

Eyewitnesses confirmed that troops and heavy military equipment have already been deployed to key flashpoints in preparation for the offensive.

Residents of Faskari and surrounding communities expressed optimism that the renewed action will bring an end to years of insecurity that have plagued the area.

“We are praying that this new operation succeeds. May God help our soldiers and bring peace to our land,” a local farmer told reporters.

The launch of Operation Mugun Bugu marks another decisive step in Nigeria’s ongoing fight against terrorism and banditry in the North-West region.
