The Plateau State Government has imposed an immediate dusk-to-dawn curfew on Barkin Ladi, Bokkos and Mangu Local Government Areas following emerging security concerns in the affected communities.
The government announced the restriction on Monday, Sept. 21, 2026, directing residents to remain indoors between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. until further notice.
The Commissioner for Information and Communication, Rt. Hon. Joyce Lohya Ramnap, mni, said the measure was introduced to enable security agencies to stabilize the affected areas, protect lives and prevent a breakdown of law and order.
According to the statement, residents are expected to comply fully with the directive and plan their commercial, agricultural and other activities around the restricted hours.
The government also directed security operatives to strictly enforce the curfew across the three local government areas.
It further announced an immediate ban on the use of motorcycles within the affected jurisdictions as part of measures to address the security situation.
The government reassured law-abiding residents that security personnel deployed to enforce the measures would operate professionally.
The curfew comes amid a series of attacks, attempted attacks and reprisal incidents reported in parts of Plateau State, particularly in Barkin Ladi, Bokkos and Mangu, prompting increased deployment and patrols by security forces.
The directive was signed by the Commissioner for Information and Communication on behalf of the Plateau State Government.
