Troops conducting night patrols under Operation ENDURING PEACE have recovered an abandoned Boxer motorcycle after two suspected individuals fled into the bush during a security operation in Jos East Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident occurred at about 9:20 p.m. on August 23, 2026, along the Federe axis, where troops of Sector 1, Sub-Sector 12, stationed at Kudedu, reportedly spotted two men behaving suspiciously around a motorcycle close to a bush.
According to the operational account, the troops moved towards the location to ascertain the identities and activities of the men. However, sensing the approaching security personnel, the two individuals reportedly abandoned the motorcycle and escaped into the surrounding vegetation.
The troops immediately launched a search of the area in an attempt to apprehend the fleeing suspects, but the operation did not yield any arrest.
The motorcycle was subsequently recovered and taken into military custody for further investigation.
Security sources said the development highlights the importance of sustained night patrols and surveillance across vulnerable areas of the Plateau operational zone, particularly in locations considered potential routes for criminal elements.
The ongoing patrols are aimed at restricting the movement of suspected criminals, disrupting possible attacks and strengthening security around communities and major routes.
Authorities are expected to subject the recovered motorcycle to further checks as investigations continue to determine its ownership and whether it was connected to any criminal activity.
The troops have also continued to maintain vigilance across the area as part of broader efforts to prevent criminal elements from exploiting the cover of darkness to operate within the state.
The recovery of the motorcycle comes amid sustained security operations across Plateau State, with troops and other security agencies intensifying patrols and surveillance to improve the safety of residents and protect communities from emerging threats.
