The 2027 governorship race in Bauchi State has taken a dramatic turn as Dr. Bala Wunti officially declared his intention to run for governor under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Wunti made the high-profile declaration during a visit to the APC State Secretariat in Bauchi, where he was received by party leadership led by Muhammad Hassan Tilde, setting off fresh political conversations across the state.
Addressing party stakeholders, the aspirant congratulated the APC leadership on its recent successes while pledging to pursue “clean and principled politics,” urging members to place the collective interest of Bauchi above personal ambition.
He stressed the need for unity, loyalty, and mutual respect within party ranks, warning that internal divisions could undermine progress ahead of the crucial polls.
In a passionate declaration of identity and commitment, Wunti told supporters: “I am a son of Bauchi. I do not know the road to Cameroon, nor to anywhere else except Bauchi,” a remark that drew applause and reinforced his grassroots appeal.
Political observers say his entry has further intensified the build-up to 2027, signaling a potentially fierce contest within the APC as aspirants begin to position themselves for the top seat.
