Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have recorded a major breakthrough in the fight against violent crime, arresting four suspects over alleged attempted murder, malicious damage, and cult-related activities in Uruk Anam Local Government Area.
The suspects—John Samson (45), Emmanuel Asuquo (50), Idorenyin Umoh (22), and Okon Akpan (70)—were apprehended on March 20, 2026, at Ikot Asukpong Village following actionable intelligence and a petition approved by authorities.
Police sources disclosed that the operation, executed with precision, led to the recovery of one locally fabricated pistol and two long guns, reinforcing suspicions of the group’s involvement in criminal activities.
The Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, assured residents that the area remains calm, with security measures strengthened to prevent any breakdown of law and order.
He reiterated the Command’s resolve to sustain the crackdown on criminal elements and urged the public to continue providing credible information to support ongoing security operations.
Investigations are ongoing, and the suspects are expected to face prosecution upon conclusion of the process.
