The Police Service Commission has approved the promotion of seven Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) to the rank of Deputy Inspectors-General of Police (DIGs), urging them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity in the discharge of their duties.
The Commission said the promotion is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen leadership within the Nigeria Police Force and enhance effective service delivery across the country.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Commission charged the newly elevated officers to justify the confidence reposed in them by demonstrating discipline, accountability, and dedication to the protection of lives and property.
The PSC stressed that the new Deputy Inspectors-General must serve as role models within the Force, particularly at a time when public expectations for improved policing and security remain high.
According to the Commission, the promotion followed the consideration of the officers’ service records, experience, and contributions to policing in Nigeria.
The Commission reiterated its commitment to merit-based promotions and reforms aimed at repositioning the Nigeria Police Force for greater efficiency, professionalism, and public trust.
Newly promoted DIGs are expected to assume higher strategic responsibilities within the Force as part of efforts to strengthen operational leadership nationwide.
