Bandits Impose ₦30m Levy, Enforce Curfew on Zamfara Community

Residents of Bilbis are gripped by fear after heavily armed bandits reportedly imposed a ₦30 million levy and enforced a strict curfew on the community.

Local sources said the gunmen stormed the town and ordered residents to remain indoors, effectively placing the community under lockdown until the demanded payment is made.

Bilbis, located in Tsafe Local Government Area, is the hometown of Ikira Aliyu Bilbis, who represents the Zamfara Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly.

Residents said the bandits threatened severe consequences if the community failed to raise the ransom, forcing many families to remain indoors while tension spreads across the area.

The development has heightened concerns over the worsening security situation in parts of Zamfara State, where armed groups have repeatedly targeted rural communities with attacks, kidnappings and illegal levies.

Security agencies have yet to officially comment on the incident as residents continue to live in uncertainty, hoping for swift intervention to restore normalcy.
