Tuesday, February 3rd Is A Work- free for Bauchi Citizens To Celebrate State’s 50th Anniversary

Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi has declared Tuesday, February 3rd, 2026 as work-free day for all categories of civil servants in the state.

The work-free day is to enable citizens actively participate in activities marking Bauchi state 50th anniversary, created on 3rd February, 1976 by the military regime of late General Murtala Ramat Mohammed.

A statement Monday signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media & Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado Mohammed said that the activities marking the Golden Jubilee celebration included the planting of 50 tree-seedlings by the Governor slated for Tuesday.

Alh. Mukhtar Gidado Mohammed explained however that Governor Bala Mohammed will be supported in the exercise by the state all former governors alive at the Bauchi Golden Jubilee Park, Wunti.

Special Adviser Gidado explained that Governor Bala Mohammed tree planting is expected to be supported by past military and civilian administration governors alive coming from both within and outside the state.

The Governor has described the anniversary as a moment of reflection on the journey of the state over the past five decades, celebrating achievements, strengthening unity, and renewing commitment to development, peace, and good governance.

He directed all residents of the state to plant at least one tree in commemoration of the day, saying the initiative is to promote environmental sustainability, combat desertification, and reduce the effects of global warming, while preserving the ecosystem for future generations.

Senator Bala Mohammed urged residents of the state to use the day to pray for continued peace, progress, and prosperity, and celebrate responsibly, maintain peace and order, and demonstrate the values of patriotism, environmental consciousness, and collective responsibility that define the spirit of the state.

The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to good governance, inclusive development, and policies that will positively improve the welfare of citizens and strengthen institutions across the state.

Mohammed congratulated all citizens on this historic milestone and urged all residents to actively participate in the Golden Jubilee activities to make the celebration a memorable and impactful one.

“Essential service providers, are however directed to remain on duty in the interest of public safety, and security”, Gidado’s press statement said.
