The Honourable Minister of Works, Nweze David Umahi, has called on Nigerians to embrace the true spirit of Christmas as a pathway to national peace, unity and renewed hope, as Christians across the world mark the birth of Jesus Christ.
In a heartfelt Season’s Greetings message, Senator Umahi described Christmas as more than a celebration, calling it a moment of deep reflection on the purpose of Christ’s birth — to extend love to all humanity and restore mankind’s relationship with God.
“Christmas reminds us of the glorious morning Christ was born and the mission of His life — love, charity, faith and hope,” the Minister said. “It calls us to live out these virtues with warmth, compassion and tenderness in our daily lives.”
He noted that the significance of Christmas lies in its power to inspire collective peace and harmony, urging Nigerians to strengthen their bond with God through gratitude, mutual respect and appreciation of the nation’s rich diversity.
Senator Umahi also used the occasion to highlight the ongoing transformation in Nigeria’s development journey under Bola Ahmed Tinubu, praising the administration’s bold and visionary approach to governance, particularly in the works and infrastructure sector.
“Great and mighty things are being done to secure a new order in our national development and to bequeath a stronger and better future for Nigeria,” he said, adding that the works sector is witnessing a remarkable turnaround driven by purposeful leadership and clear vision.
The Minister expressed profound gratitude to President Tinubu for what he described as courageous and forward-looking initiatives, while calling on Nigerians to continue supporting the values of Christmas — community, love, compassion and goodwill — as foundations for national progress.
In a special message to staff of the Federal Ministry of Works, Senator Umahi commended their discipline, dedication and positive attitude, noting that their commitment has created a supportive environment for achieving key goals under the Renewed Hope Agenda for road infrastructure development.
“I sincerely appreciate the management and staff of the Ministry for their hard work and loyalty,” he said. “May they feel my gratitude and the bonds of my love this season and always.”
As the nation celebrates the season, the Minister prayed for joy, peace and renewed optimism across Nigeria, expressing hope that the message of Christ’s birth would inspire unity and brighter days ahead.
