Firebrand South African opposition leader and Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) commander-in-chief, Julius Malema, has dismissed any possibility of a United States travel ban with trademark bravado, declaring that Africa — not America — is his true destination.
In a fiery and humorous remark that has since gone viral, Malema said he would not lose sleep if Washington shuts its doors against him, insisting the continent offers more than enough welcome, dignity and flavour.
“Even if America decides that I should no longer enter America, it’s okay,” Malema declared. “I will enter Zimbabwe. I will enter Botswana. I will enter Nigeria. I will enter Africa, my home.”
Mocking Western influence and cultural appeal, the EFF leader took a playful jab at American fast food, contrasting it with Africa’s rich cuisine and identity.
“Why should I be concerned about people who are going to feed me burgers and make me fat,” he asked, “when I can go to Nigeria and eat jollof rice with goat pepper soup?”
The comment, delivered with Malema’s usual mix of defiance and humour, resonated strongly with supporters who see him as a symbol of unapologetic African self-assertion and resistance to Western dominance.
