The Kebbi State Government has launched an urgent investigation into the heartbreaking death of two children at General Hospital Zuru, amid allegations of a fatal medical error.
In a statement issued in Birnin Kebbi by Secretary to the State Government, Yakubu Bala Tafida, authorities confirmed the constitution of a high-powered committee to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The committee, chaired by Commissioner for Information Yakubu Ahmed BK, includes Health Commissioner Sama’ila Augie and Commissioner for Establishment Manu Dogondaji, with Dr. Zaki Abubakar Zaki serving as Secretary.
According to the government, the panel will investigate both the immediate and remote causes of the deaths, identify anyone linked to the tragedy, and examine claims that the children may have been victims of a wrongful injection.
The committee has been given just one week to submit its findings, with strict orders to begin work immediately and recommend measures to prevent future occurrences.
The shocking incident has sparked public outrage, as families demand answers and accountability over the tragic loss.
