Shehu Sani Condemns Rev. Dachomo’s Viral Remarks, Warns Against Religious Incitement

Former Kaduna Central senator, Shehu Sani, has strongly condemned the controversial remarks made by Reverend Dachomo in a viral video circulating online, describing the statements as inflammatory and dangerous for Nigeria’s fragile religious harmony.

Taking to his X account, Sani said he had watched the video but deliberately chose not to repeat the cleric’s words, noting that the comments were provocative and inconsistent with the teachings of the faith he professes.

“What he said is inflammatory, provocative and inconsistent with the teachings of the faith he professes,” Sani wrote.

The outspoken politician warned that inciting statements could easily cross the boundaries of decency and threaten peace in a country as religiously sensitive as Nigeria.

“Inciting statements cross the lines of decency and peace in a religiously sensitive and fragile society like ours,” he cautioned.

Sani further stressed that while individuals are free to defend, promote and project their beliefs, such freedom should never be used to insult or defame the faith of others.

“Everyone is entitled to defend, promote and project his beliefs or faith, but not to defame that of others,” he added.

His remarks come amid growing public reactions to the viral video, with many Nigerians calling for greater caution and responsibility in religious discourse to avoid inflaming tensions in the multi-faith nation.
