The ballot boxes are returning to Rivers State.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially announced fresh bye-elections in Ahoada East II and Khana II State Constituencies, setting the stage for another round of political contest in the oil-rich state.

According to the notice, the elections will take place on Saturday, 21st February 2026, with voting scheduled to begin at 8:30am across all designated polling units in the affected constituencies.

The bye-elections are expected to attract intense interest from political parties, candidates, and voters, as the outcome will reshape representation in the Rivers State House of Assembly. For party leaders, it is a chance to measure grassroots strength; for voters, an opportunity to make their voices heard once again.

INEC has assured residents and stakeholders of its commitment to delivering a credible, transparent, and peaceful electoral process, urging eligible voters to turn out early and participate fully in the democratic exercise.

Security agencies are also expected to be on alert to ensure a smooth process, as Rivers State bye-elections have historically drawn keen attention nationwide.

As February 21 approaches, political drums are beginning to beat louder in Ahoada East and Khana. Posters will rise, campaigns will intensify, and the electorate will once again hold the ultimate power.

One vote, one voice—Rivers State is set to decide.
