The Katsina State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Friday, January 23, 2026, rolled out the drums as 115 senior officers were formally decorated with their new ranks in a ceremony marked by pride, pageantry and renewed commitment to service.

The decoration formed part of the 2025 Senior Officers Promotion Exercise, during which 5,859 personnel nationwide were elevated by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), underscoring what the Command described as a new era of reward for merit and dedication.

Addressing officers and guests, the State Commandant said the ceremony was more than a routine event, describing it as “a clear signal that diligence, discipline and loyalty to duty are recognised and rewarded.”

He applauded the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and the Commandant-General of the Corps, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, for providing what he called purposeful leadership aimed at ending stagnation and promoting officers as and when due.

According to him, the welfare-focused approach of the Corps’ top management has significantly boosted morale and strengthened operational efficiency across commands.

While congratulating the newly promoted officers, the Commandant charged them to see their new ranks as a call to higher responsibility and greater sacrifice, reminding them that NSCDC plays a critical role in the protection of schools, mining sites, agricultural investments, and other Critical National Assets and Infrastructure.

“Professionalism, discipline and dedication must remain your watchwords,” he warned, stressing that public trust in the Corps must be upheld at all times.

He also reaffirmed the Katsina Command’s commitment to sustained collaboration with sister security agencies, noting that inter-agency synergy remains vital in tackling crime and insecurity across the state.

The Commandant urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible intelligence, describing citizens’ cooperation as indispensable to effective security operations.

The colourful ceremony, attended by stakeholders and invited guests, ended on a high note—symbolising not just new insignia on uniforms, but a renewed resolve by NSCDC officers to safeguard lives, property and national assets.

In Katsina, the message was unmistakable: promotion is earned—and service to the nation must rise with every new rank.
