Radda Storms Malumfashi, Unleashes ₦176m Grassroots Empowerment for 1,859 Beneficiaries

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, on Friday reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to rebuild rural economies and strengthen local government autonomy as he flagged off a massive, multi-million-naira empowerment programme in Malumfashi Local Government Area.

The event, held at the Malumfashi Local Government Secretariat, formed part of the Governor’s ongoing Statewide Engagement Tour across all 34 LGAs. The programme—fully funded by the Malumfashi Local Government Council—delivered a sweeping range of economic support items targeted at boosting small businesses, uplifting women and youths, and promoting self-reliance at the grassroots.

Governor Radda, who arrived with a large delegation of commissioners, advisers and senior government officials, said the initiative reflects his commitment to economic inclusion, poverty reduction, and sustainable livelihood support under his “Building Your Future” agenda.

He noted that empowering rural communities remains a central pillar of his administration, adding that direct local government autonomy is already yielding results through community-led development and transparent utilisation of resources.

The empowerment rollout in Malumfashi featured the distribution of 6 cars, 21 motorcycles, 122 sewing machines, 200 flour mills, and food palliatives to 200 women. Also included were 14 cows for 140 butchers, 200 NBAIS forms, 150 First Aid boxes, and 200 POS machines, each credited with ₦100,000.

In addition, 600 small business owners received ₦20,000 each, 1,000 beneficiaries got ₦30,000 support, while 20 persons received wheelchairs—bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 1,859, with an overall intervention value of ₦176,434,000.

Governor Radda also held strategic meetings with traditional rulers, community leaders and residents to review local needs, inspect ongoing projects, and gather feedback aimed at improving service delivery across sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure and security.

Earlier, Malumfashi Local Government Chairman, Hon. Muntari Abdullahi, praised the Governor for granting full autonomy to LGAs, stressing that direct allocations have enhanced accountability, accelerated development and empowered councils to deliver meaningful impact.

He assured that the local government would continue to prioritise programmes that uplift women and youths, strengthen peace, and promote economic prosperity.

With today’s engagement, the Radda-led administration once again signalled its commitment to transparent governance and equitable development—ensuring that no community is left behind in the march toward a more prosperous Katsina.
