The parade ground of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Katsina State Command came alive on Friday as celebration, honour and renewed commitment to duty took centre stage during the decoration of officers promoted in the 2025 promotion exercise.

Presiding over the colourful ceremony at the Command Headquarters was the State Commandant, A.D. Moriki, who honoured senior officers elevated to the rank of Commandant of Corps and decorated 115 personnel promoted across various ranks by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB).
In an atmosphere charged with pride and applause, two senior officers were singled out for special recognition for their years of dedicated and selfless service. Commandant Nuhu Dalha, a former Head of Operations and later Administration and Personnel, received an award presented by the FRSC Sector Commander RS 1.3 Katsina, Maxwell Kantingo Lede. Commandant Bala Zaka Shekari, who previously headed the PGC and later the Intelligence and Investigation Department, was honoured with an award presented by Idris Kwado, Sarkin Aikin Katsina and Talban Damagaran.

Earlier, the Command’s Second-in-Command, Musa Haruna, welcomed guests and thanked them for standing with the Corps, describing the ceremony as a celebration of service, sacrifice and professionalism.
In his charge to the newly promoted officers, Commandant Moriki congratulated them and reminded them that promotion was not merely a reward but a call to greater responsibility.
“Promotion comes with higher expectations. You were elevated because of your commitment, dedication and selflessness, and the Corps expects even more from you,” he said.

Goodwill messages poured in from sister security agencies. The Commissioner of Police, Bello Shehu, represented by DCP Operations Bello Tukur Zaura, alongside the FRSC Sector Commander, urged the officers to rededicate themselves to discipline, professionalism and inter-agency cooperation in the interest of public safety.
The 115 officers promoted span ranks from Assistant Superintendent of Corps II to Deputy Commandant of Corps, including DCC Raliya Yusuf Suleiman, CSC Umar Balangoggo, SC Jamilu Abdullahi Baraya, DSC Huraira Abdullahi, ASC Babangida Umar and ASC Idris Usman Masari, among others.

The ceremony attracted top security chiefs and representatives of the Nigerian Army, DSS, Nigerian Correctional Service, Customs, Immigration, FRSC and NDLEA, underscoring the spirit of unity among security agencies in Katsina State.
Delivering the vote of thanks, Commandant Bala Zaka Shekari expressed deep appreciation to the State Commandant for the honour accorded officers and thanked guests for their solidarity, praying for their safe return.

Highlights of the event included decoration of promoted officers, presentation of gifts, entertainment and group photographs—marking not just new ranks, but a renewed vow to serve and protect Katsina State with honour and dedication.
