President Bola Ahmed Tinubu today met with the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’adu Abubakar III, at the State House in Abuja.
The closed-door meeting, which lasted over an hour, was held in an atmosphere described by insiders as cordial and deeply engaging. While details of their discussion were not immediately disclosed, sources hinted that the talks centered on national unity, security, and interfaith harmony — key issues the Sultan has consistently championed.
The Sultan, who is also the President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), was received warmly by the President, reflecting the long-standing respect between the traditional and political leadership in the country.
Observers say the meeting underscores the Tinubu administration’s ongoing engagement with traditional and religious leaders as vital stakeholders in promoting peace and stability across Nigeria.
Both leaders are expected to continue consultations in the coming weeks as part of broader efforts to strengthen national cohesion and address emerging social challenges.
