The Nigeria Police Force has reaffirmed its growing international security ties as the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, hosted top officials of the United States Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

Leading the U.S. delegation was United States Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Deputy Assistant Secretary, Maggie Nardi, alongside Mr. Jacob Wright, Senior Advisor, INL, and Mr. Grane Douglas, Acting Director, INL Abuja.

The high-level courtesy visit provided an opportunity for both sides to review ongoing areas of cooperation and chart new pathways for strengthening institutional engagement in policing and internal security development.

Ms. Nardi reaffirmed INL’s commitment to supporting the Nigeria Police Force through expanded specialised training programmes and the provision of modern operational equipment, stressing that sustained collaboration remains vital to building capacity and boosting operational effectiveness.

In his response, IGP Egbetokun expressed appreciation for INL’s continued support, particularly in tactical capacity development. He noted that INL-backed training initiatives have significantly enhanced the performance of the Special Intervention Squad (SIS), citing recent operations that reflected improved professionalism and discipline.

The Police chief further assured that the Nigeria Police Force remains committed to deepening cooperation with INL and other international partners, while embracing global best practices aimed at improving service delivery and ensuring a safer, more secure Nigeria.

The meeting underscored a shared resolve by Nigeria and the United States to strengthen law enforcement collaboration in tackling evolving security challenges.
