Nigeria’s Minister of Art, Culture and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, joined global cultural leaders at the opening of ICOM Dubai 2025, hosted by the UAE Ministry of Culture and Youth — a landmark gathering themed “The Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Communities.”
The conference spotlighted the evolving role of museums in balancing cultural preservation with technological innovation. Key discussions centered on intangible heritage, youth empowerment, and emerging technologies as tools for sustaining culture in the modern era.
Representing Nigeria, Musawa emphasized the need to amplify Africa’s voice in global cultural dialogues, advocating for policies that preserve heritage, engage communities, and promote sustainable cultural and economic development.
“It was an honour to contribute to such transformative discussions,” she noted, reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to building cultural institutions that inspire creativity and strengthen identity.
The event gathered policymakers, scholars, and museum leaders from across the world — setting a new global agenda for heritage preservation and innovation in the 21st century.
