Midnight Intruder Nabbed at Bauchi Emir’s Palace

Security operatives on Wednesday night foiled an attempted theft at the Bauchi Emir’s Palace, arresting a 20-year-old suspect who allegedly sneaked into the royal residence under cover of darkness.

Sources told this newspaper that the suspect, Umar Hamza, unlawfully entered the palace at about 8:20 p.m. on January 23 and made his way into one of the rooms belonging to the Emir’s son. He was reportedly found carrying a bunch of keys, raising suspicions of an attempted break-in.

The suspect was swiftly intercepted by palace security and handed over to the police, where he is currently being questioned.

Police authorities confirmed the arrest, saying preliminary investigations indicate that Hamza intended to steal from the palace. Further inquiries are ongoing as investigators work to determine whether he acted alone or as part of a wider plot.

The incident has heightened security vigilance around the ancient palace, a symbol of Bauchi’s rich heritage and traditional authority.
