The member representing Bauchi Federal Constituency in the National House of Representatives, Honorable Aliyu Aminu Garu, has donated solar-powered streetlights to the female hostel at Yuli Campus of Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU), Bauchi.
The donation is intended to enhance security and visibility on the campus, supplementing the state government’s efforts to improve infrastructure and education standards at the university.
In a statement from the Public Relations Unit of the University sign by the University’s Public Relations Officer Auwal Hassan says the
Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Fatimah Tahir, described the gesture as a significant contribution towards complementing the government’s investment in education.
”This is a tremendous achievement,” Professor Tahir said, noting that the streetlights will add value to the students and the university community by creating an enabling environment for conducive learning.
Represented by the Director of Entrepreneurship Development, Dr. Salisu Ibrahim Waziri, the Vice-Chancellor confirmed that the solar powered street lights, as an alternative power source, will complement the 500KVA generator already provided by the university management.
Professor Tahir lauded Honorable Garu as an “icon of development,” emphasizing that “he who invested in education, also invest in the entire development.”
The VC selected the female hostel at the Yuli Campus which was newly constructed by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund TETFund, as the location for the project (siting of the solar powered street lights).
Professor Tahir appreciated the donation and urged other politicians, well-to-do individuals, and the general public to emulate the lawmaker’s philanthropic gesture.
She also expressed gratitude to the Visitor to the University, His Excellency Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed CON, the Executive Governor of Bauchi for the tremendous investment in the university that has enhanced its overall condition.
