This was disclosed in a press statement signed by Fauziyya Kabir Tukur, Managing Director, Mata Media, who described the launch as a milestone in bridging gender gaps in media representation and storytelling.

According to Fauziyya Kabir Tukur, Mata Media was established to provide a safe, professional and inclusive platform where women can freely share their stories, ideas and solutions to social, economic and political challenges affecting their lives and communities.

She stated that the organisation brings together a team of highly experienced female journalists committed to promoting women’s empowerment, challenging stereotypes and driving positive social change through ethical, high quality journalism.

Fauziyya Kabir Tukur further explained that the platform will publish a wide range of content, including news reports, features, profiles and in-depth analysis, all focused on women’s issues and gender sensitive development.

She noted that the organisation is led by herself as Managing Director and supported editorially by Hafsat Bahara as Editor, bringing professional depth and strong leadership to the new media platform.

The Managing Director disclosed that Mata Media will also focus on mentoring young female journalists by offering internship and training opportunities to help build a new generation of competent women media professionals.

She added that the organisation currently operates as a digital-first platform, with active presence on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, as well as a dedicated website, to ensure wide reach and audience engagement.
