Katsina State was on Monday reassured of the resolve of security agencies to crush lawlessness as the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Katsina State Command, arrested eight suspects in connection with the violent attack on the Koramar Nayalli Outpost in Sabuwar Unguwar, Katsina metropolis.
The incident, which occurred at about 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, December 28, followed a coordinated assault by a group of miscreants who stormed the NSCDC outpost in apparent retaliation for a police operation the previous day. In the process, three motorcycles and other valuables belonging to the outpost were set ablaze.
Security sources disclosed that the attackers, armed with dangerous weapons, also attempted to extend the violence to nearby NSCDC and Nigeria Police Force outposts in the Filin Kanada area. However, swift intervention by joint special response squads of the NSCDC and the Police brought the situation under control, restoring calm to the affected neighbourhoods.
Reacting promptly, the State Commandant, AD Moriki, conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the damaged outpost and ordered a full-scale investigation into the incident. He also approved the constitution of a seven-man investigative committee to unravel the circumstances surrounding the attack and ensure accountability.
The Command confirmed that eight suspects have been apprehended so far and will be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted in line with due process.
Issuing a stern warning, the Commandant cautioned miscreants, vandals, economic saboteurs and other criminal elements to desist from acts capable of threatening public peace or face the full wrath of the law. He commended the people of Katsina State for their continued cooperation with security agencies and called for sustained collaboration through the provision of credible and timely intelligence.
The NSCDC reiterated its commitment to safeguarding critical national assets and infrastructure, urging residents to remain vigilant and support ongoing security efforts across the state. Press release signed by SC Buhari Hamisu CDPRO, NSCDC Katsina Command
