Kannywood Actress in Family Storm as Mother Demands Exit from Film Industry

A fresh controversy has erupted in the Hausa film industry after the mother of rising actress Hassana Ibrahim Rano publicly demanded that her daughter withdraw from acting, claiming she joined the industry without parental consent.

In an emotional appeal, the woman alleged that Hassana and her sister falsely claimed their mother had died in order to gain sympathy and entry into the Hausa film sector, popularly known as Kannywood.

The mother insisted that she never approved of her daughter’s decision to pursue a career in films and urged her to abandon acting immediately.

According to her, Hassana’s future and prosperity lie in marriage rather than in the entertainment industry.

She called on those around the actress to help persuade her to return home and focus on settling down.

The development has triggered widespread reactions on social media, with many observers debating parental authority, cultural expectations and the place of women in the Hausa film industry.
