The Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Borno State Council, has commended the Borno State Independent Electoral Commission (BOSIEC) for the timely and orderly conduct of the Local Government elections held on Saturday, December 13, 2025.
IPAC said the elections were conducted in a relatively peaceful atmosphere, despite the prevailing security challenges in parts of the state. The council acknowledged the combined efforts of BOSIEC, the Borno State Government, and security agencies in ensuring a smooth electoral process.
In a statement signed by the IPAC Secretary, Hon. Abba Modu, the council called on political parties, candidates, and supporters who did not win the elections to accept the results in good faith and support the elected officials in the overall interest of peace, unity, and development in Borno State.
IPAC also cautioned all stakeholders against actions or statements that could undermine the ongoing efforts of the state government and security agencies to sustain the fragile peace currently enjoyed in the state.
The council further urged the newly elected chairmen and councillors to embrace inclusive governance by extending hands of fellowship to their opponents and working with all stakeholders to promote unity, reconciliation, and good governance at the grassroots level.
While commending BOSIEC, IPAC advised the commission to review areas of concern observed during the elections and make necessary improvements ahead of future local government polls in the state.
The council reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening democratic practices, promoting peaceful political engagement, and supporting credible electoral processes in Borno State.
