Eid-el-Fitr: Police Warn Sara-Suka Thugs, Phone Snatchers in Bauchi

By Ibrahim Idris, Bauchi

Ahead of the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, the Bauchi State Police Command has issued a stern warning to Sara-Suka thugs, phone snatchers and other criminal elements to steer clear of trouble or face the full weight of the law.

The Command said it has intensified security measures across the state, deploying additional personnel to flashpoints and strategic locations to prevent crimes and ensure a peaceful Sallah.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Habib Nafi’u, disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Sani Omolori-Aliyu, has ordered aggressive patrols, intelligence-led operations and heightened visibility of officers before, during and after the festivities.

He stressed that security operations will specifically target Sara-Suka violence, phone snatching, pickpocketing and traffic-related offences, warning that anyone caught disrupting public peace will be decisively dealt with.

“The Command has put in place robust strategies to frustrate criminal elements who may attempt to exploit the festive period. There will be no hiding place for offenders,” he said.

The police also called on parents and guardians to keep a close watch on their wards to prevent involvement in criminal activities.

Residents were urged to remain vigilant and law-abiding, and to promptly report suspicious movements to the nearest police station or through the Command’s control line: 08151849417.

The Command added that it is working closely with other security agencies, community leaders and stakeholders to maintain law and order throughout the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
