Customs Boss Storms Jibia Border, Boosts Security Drive, Meets LG Chairman

In a renewed push to tighten border security and strengthen grassroots collaboration, the Customs Area Controller of Katsina Command, Nigeria Customs Service, Comptroller Mohd. Saidu Musa, has carried out an operational inspection of officers deployed along the strategic Jibia Road corridor.

The inspection tour, conducted on Friday, January 9, 2026, was led on behalf of the Area Controller by the Acting Deputy Comptroller in charge of Enforcement, Umar Abubakar Kigo, who inspected personnel stationed from Jibia Road to the busy Jibia Border.

Accompanied by the Officer-in-Charge of Jibia Border Station, Abdul-Aziz Mohd. Kalgo, the Officer-in-Charge of the Customs Police Unit, Katsina, Bashir Danmallam, and other senior officers, the team assessed discipline, professionalism, compliance, and operational readiness on the frontline.

Addressing the officers, the enforcement chief commended their vigilance and dedication, urging them to remain disciplined, law-abiding, and professional at all times. He stressed that effective border management—especially in strategic communities like Jibia—remains a top priority of the Service due to its importance to national security and economic stability.

The Customs leadership later paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman of Jibia Local Government Area, Surajo Ado, at his residence. The visit was aimed at deepening cooperation and strengthening the working relationship between Customs and the local government.

The council chairman applauded the Katsina Command for its sustained efforts in curbing smuggling and maintaining peace in the border community, noting that the presence of Customs officers has significantly improved safety and economic order. He assured the Service of the local government’s continued support.

In response, the Area Controller reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to strong synergy with host communities and local authorities, describing collaboration as key to achieving Customs’ mandate of security, economic growth, and community development across Katsina’s border areas.
