In a powerful statewide broadcast on Thursday, Babagana Umara Zulum reassured residents that despite a recent spike in insecurity, Borno remains firmly under control—declaring that “the worst days are over” and vowing decisive action against insurgents.
Addressing citizens with urgency and resolve, the governor admitted that the renewed attacks in parts of the state are troubling but insisted they are a fallout of intensified military offensives that have dislodged terrorists, forcing them into desperate infiltration attempts.
“We are not relenting. A robust and coordinated response is already in motion. These enemies will find no sanctuary in Borno State,” Zulum declared.
He called on residents to remain vigilant and work closely with security forces, stressing that the fight against insurgency is a collective responsibility.
The governor issued a stern warning to collaborators, branding them “enemies of the state” who will face the full force of the law.
In a strong show of unity, Zulum commended Bola Ahmed Tinubu for funding military operations and praised Kashim Shettima for his solidarity visit, while saluting the sacrifices of security personnel, vigilantes, and the Civilian JTF.
As the political season heats up, the governor cautioned politicians against exploiting the security situation, urging unity and responsibility over personal ambition.
With Ramadan drawing to a close, Zulum called on both Muslims and Christians to intensify prayers for peace and stability, while advising residents to observe Eid prayers within their communities and remain alert.
Ending on a note of faith and defiance, the governor assured: “Borno will not fall into the hands of insurgents—Insha Allah.”
