Zamfara Chapter of the Amalgamated Union of Foodstuffs and Cattle Dealers of Nigeria (AUFCON) has advocated for joint taskforce committee in tackling the challenge of mix loading among trucks.
The Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC) had identified the phenomena as a critical challenge that claim lives and properties along the roads.
The AUFCON State Chairman, Aminu Garba made the called in a news brief in Gusau on Monday.
Garba said “the issue of mix loading is really our concerned, and we are fighting the menace, only that we alone cannot find solution to the problem.
What I consider as a remedy to tackle this challenge is that the FRSC as leading roads traffic agency to establish a Joint Taskforce Committee the comprises all stakeholders and take a special patrol for sensitization and enforcement.
According to him bringing stakeholders together at time on patrol would address every challenge of the matter, as each stakeholder can deal with aspect that of his part.
He acknowledged the several calls by FRSC Zamfara Command to form the state taskforce committee on road traffic and the chapter was ever ready to support the idea.
He added that if stakeholders such as AUFCON, NURTW, NARTO ZAROTA and FRSC can put head together the issue of mix loading would be a history and casualties on roads would reduced.
Also speaking on the matter the Sector Commander Aliyu Maaji said mix loading was an issue of serious concern, because it record highest death in auto crash.
Maaji said the corps is intensifying community engagement to raised public awareness, also arrangement is ongoing with critical stakeholders towards establishing Joint Taskforce Committee to enforce compliance were necessary.
As leading agency in traffic control the command would coordinate all bodies concerned in the committee and embarked on special patrol against mix loading and other critical offenses.
